I have taught horse back riding since I was 16 yrs old. I find great joy  from always learning and especially from empowering others to go on their own and ride well.
I delight in healing horses through common sense practical ways in concert with those who have expertise.

    Hawaiian Cowgirl Fern White
    This HawaiianCowgirl is as diverse as a paniolo can be. She is adept as an educator, roper, rider and rider. She says she has spent most all her life demonstrating that cowgirls are not “just a cowgirl” from the day she heard another rodeo cowboy make that comment, in a demeaning manner, to a media person! Fern has more than demonstrated that cowgirls are talent a plenty. She is Hawaii’s Leading Lady Rider and horseman; she is well renown within and beyond our ranges and shores.

    Fern White has been competing in the sport of rodeo for over 45 years! Growing up on 'Ulupalakua Ranch on Maui, she has competed in rodeos on every island and made three appearances at the American Quarter Horse World Championships. She placed 10th in world competition of barrel racing and has won over 50 State Championships in rodeo. Her current passion is team roping and she has been traveling extensively competing in that event. In June 2008 she and her partner Ryan White, formerly of Waimea, roped the fastest time on four steers winning $10,000,saddles and a National Shoot Out for the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) held in Oklahoma. In October 2008 she roped with Waimea cowboy Zanga Schutte bringing home 9th place honors in the #12 division of team roping at the USTRC championship team roping.

    Lio Lapa'au, a private enterprise of Fern White's; she offers riding instruction and therapeutic riding services, She is a Sales Rep for Silver Lining Herbs. She is certified by the NARHA (North American Riding for Handicapped Association) and the American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA).

    Fern teaches at Kohala High School and coordinates the robotics-electric car, and mock trial programs. She coached and advised Speech Club for 10 years. White is National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certified early Adolescence/Young Adult English Language Arts
